Within our pre-school program,
special activities suited to the
child provide:
. . . A ministry to the community for pre-
school children of every race, creed and
national origin, as part of the total mission
of the Christian church.  Sponsorship by
Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church allows
CCNS as an instrument of mission and
Christian service and evangelism to the
larger community, to provide this service at
very reasonable and competitive rates.

. . . An
atmosphere for growth and
enrichment beyond the family group in a
setting reflecting Christian values and
traditions.
No specific denominational
doctrine
is a part of our curriculum. An
opportunity for each child to develop a
positive self-image.

. . . Opportunities for
positive social
interaction
with the child’s peer group with
an emphasis on respect and responsibility
for themselves, for each other, and for their
environment.

. . . Opportunities for the
development of
large and small motor skills
.

. . . A rich sensory environment and
experience to
encourage language
development
.

. . . An opportunity for
creative expression.
Curiosity Corner Nursery School is a discovery
place where growth is encouraged and social
skills can be practiced in a setting of Christian
love. Here the children can learn to appreciate
the goodness of creation, the importance of
each individual and one’s responsibility to be
sensitive to the needs of others.

At first you may miss clues that important
learning and skill development is going on.
However, upon closer observation, you may
discover the beginnings of cooperation,
conflict resolution and peacemaking skills, as
well as the beginnings of science,
mathematics, language arts and social
studies as integral parts of the children’s
activity.

The child’s selection of equipment, and how to
play with it, is a matter of individual choices.
The teacher observes these choices carefully
and watches for those moments when she
can enable the child to become aware of new
perspectives.

Play in a good nursery school means children
working alone or in groups on ideas that are
important to them in their growth and
development.
